TRAX software excluded from Courtroom
TRAX is a CDR (Call Detail Records) mapping application used by a few local law enforcement agencies throughout the country. The accuracy, reliability and methodology of this application has been brought into question by some experts. The TRAX application displays a controversial shape to show estimated coverage area. A Colorado court order (People v Jones) has confirmed what many believe; TRAX’s formula for estimating cell sector coverage area is not based in science, is unreliable, fails Daubert standards, and should not be used in court proceedings.
